US REMOVES LAPTOP BAN ON ROYAL JORDANIAN



The Royal Jordanian airlines, which was among banned ones with regards to the laptop ban, have become the latest Middle Eastern airlines to allow passengers carry laptops in the cabin on US-bound flights.
"Enhanced security measures are now implemented to meet the requirements of the U Department of Homeland Security's new security guidelines for all US bound flights," Xinhua news agency quoted Royal Jordanian President and CEO Stefan Pichler as saying in a statement on Sunday.
He added: "We are glad that our guests can now fly onboard Royal Jordanian and use their electronic devices. We highly appreciate our passengers' patience and understanding during the time of the ban."
Royal Jordanian operates 16 weekly non-stop flights to three major US cities: daily flights to Chicago and New York, and two weekly flights to Detroit.
Etihad, Turkish Airlines, Emirates and Qatar Airways became exempt from the laptop ban last week, reports the BBC.
The US imposed the ban in March on direct flights from eight Muslim-majority countries -- Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Turkey -- over security issues that bombs could be hidden in the devices.
Last month, the US Department of Homeland Security had announced measures requiring additional time to screen passengers and electronic devices on US-bound flights from 105 countries.
Airlines in Morocco, Egypt and Saudi Arabia are yet to announce a lifting of the laptop ban.

BOLLYWOOD ACTRESS GETS INJURED ON THE SHOOTING SPOT

B-Town actress Prachi Desai gets injured on the sets of Kosha. The Rock On 2 fame actress was shooting for her upcoming film Kosha in one of the sets in Mumbai, and the scene demanded the actress to jump over with supporting ropes from a two-storey building and she had to land on the ground and chase a car. The actress convinced the director that she would be doing the stunt by herself and while doing the stunt, the actress fell to the ground and suffered severe injuries. Prachi Desai was immediately rushed to the hospital where she was given first aid and reports say that the actress will be on bed rest for next two days post which she will be back again to the sets of Kosha to finish her last schedule of the film.

INFOSYS NAMES TVS CAPITAL EXECUTIVE AS DIRECTOR

Infosys Ltd appointed TVS Capital Funds Ltd Vice-Chairman D. Sundaram as an independent director on its board, the software major announced on Saturday."Sundaram is appointed as independent director with effect from July 14 on the recommendation of the company's nomination and remuneration committee of the board," said the IT giant in a statement here after a regulatory filing on the BSE. A fellow of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants, the Chennai-based honcho was Vice-Chairman of Hindustan Unilever Ltd, the Indian arm of the Dutch-British transnational consumer goods firm Unilever Group, which he joined in 1975."Sundaram brings extensive experience in the field of finance and strategy execution. I am sure the board will benefit from his expertise," said Infosys Chairman R. Seshasayee in the statement.
